How Audio Notes will improve your vocabulary.
Orientation: Learn the words
Each new elllo interview selects five vocabulary items for students to learn or study. These items are often words or phrases that hard to find in a dictionary, or used in a way that students might not know. Audio notes also contains explanations of commons words and phrases that all students should know.
Recognition: Hear the words
In each audio note clip, listeners will hear the vocabulary item at least five times. This frequent repetition allows students many opportunities to hear the vocabulary in a natural and relaxed manner, so the can recognize when spoken in a real situation.
Pronunciation: Say the words
To master pronunciation, students must have access to clear and accurate pronunciation. With audio notes, students can hear professional voice actors say each work clearly and accurately. Each vocabulary item is said slowly and clearly at the beginning of the explanation, and then more naturally in sample sentences that follow.
Meaning: Know the words
With audio notes, students get a simple, spoken explanation of each vocabulary item that is easy to understand. To clarify the meaning on the word, three sample sentences are given to help demonstrate meaning.
Usage: Understand the words
Students can see how words are used in real speech. For starters, all the words come from elllo. Real speakers on the site actually said each vocabulary item, without prompting like in most textbooks, so what you see is real English. The audio notes then help explain how the words are used and in what situation.
Reinforcement: Remember the words
Audio notes use three tools to help students learn and remember the vocabulary items. Students can hear the words, read the words, and also associate the words with an accompanying image.
Application: Practice the words
All audio notes come with two quizzes. Quiz 1 is a gap-fill activity where students use the audio notes to complete sample sentences. Quiz 1 allows students to practice using the words while testing them on the words usage, spelling, and form. Quiz 3 (Questions for You!) uses the words in spoken questions the viewer can then try to answer.
Mobility: Study the words on the go
Audio notes are mp3 files that students can play in any mobile device. Students can download the audio notes and study them on the go, anywhere, anytime. Students can quickly and easily review the words with just a click of their mobile device.
Organization: Manage the words
Because the words are digitial mp3 files, students can organize the words by creating folders on their mp3 players or computers. Students can group words by difficulty, importance, relevance or so forth.
