I’m not particular, I like any kind of fruit.
“Not particular” in this case means to have no special preference for something. See the examples below:
- I am not particular about the type of car I drive, as long as it has four wheels and an engine I don’t care what make it is.
- Cheryl loves dressing up; she is not particular about the type of clothes just as long as she can have fun.
very broad category but all vegetables are good and tasty and delicious
“Broad” means something is wide ranging and diverse and “category” means a group of some kind. “Broad category” therefore means a group that is very general and far reaching in what’s in it. Here are two examples:
- “All cars” is a very broad category but if you say you have a yellow Volkswagon beetle I have a clear picture of the kind of car you have.
- A Bachelor of Arts covers a broad category of subjects, so people usually give their major as well, such as English literature.
…a good way to start the day
“Start the day” means what we do from the time we wake up and begin our day. See the examples below:
- Healthy people usually start the day with a good breakfast.
- I like to start the day by looking out the window and checking out the weather!
It’s hard to get in some places …
“Hard to get” means something is difficult to obtain. Here are two examples:
- It’s hard to get good bread in Japan, there is no cultural history of breadmaking there.
- LP records are hard to get these days.
…at the end of a day you have a couple of organic beers …
“End of a day” is the opposite of “start the day”. It usually means the end of the working day, so the time when people have come home from work and are ready to relax. Note the examples:
- I look forward to the end of the day when I can come home, relax and watch some TV.
- My job is demanding and I work hard but at the end of a day, I feel satisfied with what I have achieved.
