geeky

I looked a lot geekier.

Looking 'geeky' means you look like a geek. A 'geek' is a person who is not fashionable, but usually very intelligent. Geeks are the people at school who do well in classes, but are maybe a little awkward around other students. Notice the following:

  1. Josh looked geeky in high school.
  2. Sorry, but those are geeky looking glasses.

age

I don’t think I have aged much.

Here, 'age' is a verb.  It means to grow older. We use it to talk about changes in someones appearance or thinking.  Notice the following:

  1. Tom Cruise doesn't seem to age.
  2. Barrack Obama has aged a lot since he became President.

out there

A little grey hair out there, not too much.

Here the speaker means that some of his grey hair is present, or easy to see. You can see it.  Notice the following:

  1. He eats a lot of junk food so he's got a little belly out there.
  2. I see a few tears out there.  Are you OK?

revealing

I used to wear clothes that were a bit more revealing.

When clothes are 'revealing,' it means that they show a lot of your skin. A skirt that is revealing might be very short. A lot of times younger people wear more revealing clothes.  Notice the following:

  1. In some cultures, revealing clothes are unacceptable for women.
  2. We are not permitted to wear revealing clothes at my school.

wear heels

I used to wear heels.

'Wearing heels' means wearing high heeled shoes. Often high heeled shoes are just called heels.  Notice the following:

  1. I always wear heels at the office.
  2. One advantage of wearing heels is that it makes legs appear longer.
