crave

I always crave Irish soda bread.

When we 'crave' something, that means we want it really bad.  We usually use 'crave' to describe a desire for food. Notice the following:

  1. I'm craving ice cream.  Let's go to Swensen's!
  2. My sister's got a sweet tooth.  She craves deserts.

get tired of

I can never get tired of pizza.

To 'get tired of something' means to become bored with it.  Notice the following:

  1. Hip-hop's cool, but I get tired of it real fast.
  2. We never get tired of elllo!

a big fan of

I'm a big fan of popcorn.

We are 'big fans' of someone or something we like a lot.  Notice the following:

  1. Ricardo is a big fan of Real Madrid.  He never misses a game!
  2. I'm not a big fan of Thai food.  It's too spicy for me.

old-fashioned

My grandmother made it in a really old-fashioned fire oven.

Something that is 'old-fashioned' was popular in the past, but not so much now.  Notice the following:

  1. I usually eat healthy, but sometimes I crave an old-fashioned hamburger.
  2. My dad listen's to old fashioned jazz from the 1950's.

days straight

I eat it for about  4 days straight.

Here, the phrase ' # days straight' is similar in meaning to 'days in a row'.  Notice the following:

  1. Company employees all work 6 days straight with Sundays off.
  2. I'm so tired.  I haven't slept for 2 days straight.
