adaptable

They have to also be adaptable to many different situations.

When someone is adaptable it means that they can easily make changes if they need to. Here are two more examples:

  1. The reason why crocodiles did not die when the dinosaurs died is because they are so adaptable to different kinds of weather.
  2. I like traveling with you because you are so adaptable. Wherever we go, whatever we do, you are happy.

charismatic

I think that a good leader needs to be charismatic to get people to trust them and to like them.

A charismatic person is a person who is good with people. When they speak, people listen. See additional uses below:

  1. He isn’t a great singer, but he has a lot of charisma so he’s good on stage.
  2. I’d rather have a leader who is smart and efficient than a leader who is charismatic.

compassionate

I guess a good leader is someone who is compassionate, but who also knows how to lay down the law.

A person who is compassionate understands other peoples’ problems. Notice the following examples:

  1. Some teachers have a lot of compassion for students, but some teachers are more cold-hearted.
  2. Religion often teaches people to be compassionate.

lay down the law

I guess a good leader is someone who is compassionate, but who also knows how to lay down the law.

If someone is laying down the law it means that they are being strict or making sure that everyone is following the rules. Here are two more sample sentences:

  1. My dad isn’t very strict, but my mom knows how to lay down the law.
  2. Some teachers spend all their time laying down the law, but don’t do very much teaching.

decisive

I think a good leader needs to be decisive.

A decisive person is able to make difficult decisions quickly. See additional examples below:

  1. Decisiveness isn’t always a good thing. Sometimes it’s better to make the right choice than to make a choice quickly.
  2. I’m feeling very indecisive about this, can you help me make a decision?
