Hi, this is Todd for elllo.org, and as you know, elllo is for listening, but you can also improve your pronunciation. How can you improve your pronunciation? Well, basically by doing drilling. Drilling is when you hear somebody say something, like "Where did you go yesterday?" And you listen and repeat: "Where did you go yesterday?" So drilling is a good way to work on intonation, which is kind of how language flows. It's a good way to work on linking. For example, "Where did you -- Wherdiju -- Wherdiju -- Wherdiju go yesterday?" So this can be done my doing drilling. And you can actually do drilling, so let's learn how. OK, so for pronunciation and drilling there are two way you can do this. 1) Go to Quiz 1: Vocabulary focus here and you have the gap fill. You need to put the words in and check your answers. Here I did it for you. But if you click on the audio, you can repeat after the audio. So that is drilling. So let's try. "Rely on. Rely on " "Rely on. Rely on " So you can work on pronunciation of the words and you can work on pronunciation in the sentences. So here, 4) we have a sentence with rely on. We play, "We rely on our assistants for a lot." And you can repeat after the audio, and work on pronunciation. You can also work on pronunciation in Quiz 3. Quiz 3 has five questions. So you can show the questions, and then play the audio. "Questions for you. Number 1032: Ideal Date. Questions 1: "Who do you rely on for help?" repeating "Who do you rely on for help?" So you repeat after the audio. Question 2: "Do women every make the first move in your culture?" repeating, "Do women ever make the first move in your culture?" So you can also practice linking and chunking. "Do women --- every make the first move --- in your culture?" and you can work on rhythm and intonation as well. If you want to make it more difficult, you can of course turn (the questions) off, so you can't see the sentence, or question. audio playing: "Question 3, Where is a nice place to take a friend out" repeating "Where is a nice play to take a friend out?" So you repeat. So that's it. That's drilling. It's a good way to work on pronunciation, and you can do it in two places: Quiz 3 and Quiz 1.
