Sound Grammar
Deductive Learning
The Mini Lecture is the most traditional grammar lesson in the course.
It may look simple, but it plays an important role.
In this lesson:
- The teacher explains the grammar points
- One by one
- In detail
- With extra examples and comments
It is like having a teacher read and explain a grammar book to you.
What This Lesson Is For
This lesson is a deep dive into grammar.
You will:
- Learn the rules clearly
- Understand why structures work
- See important exceptions
- Build accurate knowledge
By the end, you should have a strong understanding of the grammar system.
When Should You Do the Mini Lecture?
It is recommended to do this lesson:
At the end of the unit
After you have:
- Watched One-Minute Grammar
- Listened to the Daily Private Podcasts
- Done the quizzes
- Completed Excel in English activities
At that point:
- The grammar already feels familiar
- The rules are easier to understand
- The lesson is less boring
- Learning is faster
However, if you prefer:
- You can watch it first
- Some students like rules before practice
Both options are available.
Why This Lesson Is Easier Than Reading a Grammar Book
Reading grammar alone can be difficult because:
- It is slow
- Vocabulary is hard
- Pronunciation is unknown
- Students get tired
In the Mini Lecture:
- The teacher reads the grammar points aloud
- Guides you through the material
- Highlights important parts on screen
- Uses color and the mouse to show key words
- Adds extra explanations and examples
This means:
The teacher pulls you through the lesson
instead of you pushing yourself through a book.
A Big Benefit: Real Grammar Knowledge
Many fluent English speakers — even teachers — do not know formal grammar rules.
They speak well, but:
- They cannot explain why structures work
- They learned naturally, not analytically
In this lesson, you will:
- Learn the actual rules
- Understand the system
- Build technical grammar knowledge
This can make your grammar knowledge stronger than some native speakers and teachers.
Learning Style: Deductive Learning
The Mini Lecture uses deductive learning:
- Rules first
- Explanation first
- Then usage
This is also called:
Top-down learning
The opposite style is inductive learning:
- Examples first
- Rules discovered later
The course uses both:
- Mini Lecture → Deductive
- Excel in English → Inductive
This combination gives students:
- Understanding
- Accuracy
- And natural usage
Summary
The Mini Lecture:
- Is traditional
- Is detailed
- Explains grammar clearly
- Uses audio + visuals
- Builds strong rule knowledge
- Works best after practice
It is the final step that completes the grammar learning process.
