Various people discuss if health care should be free.
Lori / Canada
Definitely, I think health care should be free. Everyone should have access to ... everyone should have free access to a doctor at anytime. You shouldn't avoid going to the doctor because you are afraid of how much it will cost. There should be universally free heath care.
Eoin / Canada
I'm British and health care is pretty much is free in the UK. It's what I've grown up with and somehow it's inbuilt into me that I think health care should be free for everyone.
Shalini / Canada
Yes. I definitely think health care should be free. From Canada, and we do pay high taxes but this allows us also to be able to enter into a hospital and not pay for what's wrong with you and the services are not bad. You might have to wait a little while but anyone can come in and get treated, so I think that's good.
Lindsay / United States
I definitely think health care should be free. I think it's a really big tragedy right now that a lot of nations don't have free health care for children, and for people in general. I think it's really sad when one child is able to have their disease treated but another child has to suffer.
Chris / England
Yes, I believe health care should be free. It's one of the things that everyone needs so I think if you pay into it a system and if you're a part of a society then one of the things that society should give back to you is health care, if you want fantastic top-of -the-range coverage then you should have to pay for that, but basic health care should be free.
Aki / England
I don't think it should be free. I think we should pay a certain amount of money because if it's for free, I think they quality of our health insurance is gonna, you know, go down, so I don't think it should be that high, like in the states where nobody actually can buy the health insurance, so I think actually Japan has quite a good system.
There should be universally free healthcare.
Something that is 'universally free' is free for everyone. Notice the following:
- In Canada, healthcare is universally free.
- I believe in universally free job training.
Anyone can come in and get treated.
When we visit a hospital we 'get treated' by a doctor. Notice the following:
- It took forever to get treated.
- I got treated by the school nurse.
a really big tragedy
I think it's a really big tragedy right now.
A 'tragedy' is a situation that is very sad and unnecessary. Notice the following:
- That over 30 million Americans have no health insurance
is a really big tragedy.
- It's a really big tragedy that world hunger still
pay into a system
If you pay into a system.
When you pay taxes to the government, that means you pay into a system. Notice the following:
- If you pay into a system, you should get something in return.
- In England, you pay into a system for healthcare.
If you want top-of -the-range coverage.
Top-of-the-range coverage is the highest quality insurance you can buy. Notice the following:
- Most people can't afford top-of-the-range coverage.
- Top-of-the-range coverage is very expensive.
